1978 Aston Martin V8 - Vantage - Bolt On
An exceptional early factory Vantage, one of just 16 Bolt On ‘Flip tail’ examples, built in 1977. Finished in Jubilee Silver with Black hides this rare and desirable original Vantage, owned in the 1980s by the pioneering Fast Lane magazine, was run daily by its then editor, the former British Touring Car ace and historic racer, Tony Dron.
Sympathetically maintained and restored over the years, this historically interesting early V8 Vantage, has been maintained continuously by recognised and renowned Aston Martin specialists. Upgrades fitted include an engine rebuild with large bore induction and exhaust systems, suspension and braking upgrades.
Complete with a comprehensive history file, containing multiple maintenance invoices dating from new to the present day, including an original issue of Fast Lane and Vantage magazine articles, relating to this rapid car.
Retaining its original Vantage aerodynamic features fitted before the introduction of the revised body shape, known as Oscar India. Clearly identifiable, the Bolt On ‘Flip Tail’ wind tunnel developed aerodynamic devices, dramatically improved the stability and aerodynamic performance of the original William Towns design and visually differentiated the Vantage from the standard production V8, built in far greater numbers
